Cole Agrees to Reported $324M Deal with Yankees

The New York Yankees have reportedly agreed to a massive deal with former Pittsburgh Pirates infielder, Gerrit Cole. According to sources, the contract is worth a whopping $324 million over nine years, making it the largest deal ever for a pitcher in Major League Baseball history.

Cole is one of the most sought-after players in the league, having had an outstanding season with the Astros in 2019. He finished with a 20-5 record, a 2.50 ERA, and 326 strikeouts, earning him a runner-up spot in the American League Cy Young Award voting.

The Yankees have been seeking a top-tier pitcher for years and they appear to have found their man in Cole. He is expected to lead the Yankees’ rotation for years to come, along with Luis Severino, James Paxton, and Masahiro Tanaka.

Cole, who is a Southern California native, was also reportedly courted by the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Angels. However, the Yankees’ offer was reportedly too good to pass up.

The Yankees have not won a World Series championship since 2009 and they are hoping that Cole’s addition will help them get over the hump. The team is also reportedly in the market for a top-tier outfielder, as they look to add more firepower to their already potent lineup.

In conclusion, the Yankees have made a significant move in acquiring Gerrit Cole, who is arguably the best pitcher in baseball right now. This deal has sent shockwaves throughout the league and has cemented the Yankees as one of the top contenders for the World Series in the upcoming seasons.
