The first news about the upcoming NFL season is beginning to emerge, with the confirmation of five international games in the 2023/2024 season. The games in England and Germany will be played in the fourth, fifth, sixth, ninth, and tenth weeks of the season, respectively.
The NFL is one of the four major sports leagues in the United States, although it has not had the international reach that the NBA has. American football has long been focused on the land of the stars and stripes, but the league has expressed a desire in attracting fans from other countries. That is why, for the past few years, it has held multiple games during the season around the world, primarily in Europe.
This year, two cities have been chosen to provide Europeans with the opportunity to experience American football. On the one hand, three games will be played in London, one at Wembley Stadium and two at Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium. The NFL, on the other hand, is heading to Germany, where the Frankfurt Stadium will host two games.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Atlanta Falcons will face the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first game played outside of the United States on October 1st at the iconic Wembley Stadium. The Jaguars were one of the pleasant shocks in 2022, and they will strive to become a threat this season. The Falcons, on the other hand, will be content if they can be the year’s biggest surprise.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Buffalo Bills
Jacksonville will return to the islands just one week later, this time to face the Buffalo Bills. A game between title contenders that should be tight and fiercely contested. The Bills understand that this is the year in which they must produce a spectacular performance that propels them to the top of the league.
Baltimore Ravens vs. Tennessee Titans
The Ravens will arrive at Tottenham Stadium with a franchise quarterback in Lamar Jackson, ensuring them some stability this season… something the Titans lack. Ryan Tannehill should be the starting quarterback, but Will Levis is the long-term solution. Will Tannehill be able to stay injury-free?
Miami Dolphins vs. Kansas City Chiefs
On November 5th, two real titans will square off in Frankfurt. Kansas City will defend its Super Bowl victory from this year, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes. However, the power of Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill’s running game in the Dolphins may be enough to beat the current champion.
Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots
Two historic teams in a slump, but with the opportunity to rise again, face each other on November 12th. Both the Colts and the Patriots want to get back to their winning ways, when they were top teams. In Indianapolis we see many new faces, with Shane Steichen on the bench and the selection of Anthony Richardson in the draft. The Patriots have chosen to stick with familiar faces while they heal from the major setback. A historic game, but at an inconvenient time for both teams.
