The New York Giants announced that that rookie quarterback Daniel Jones will start the last preseason game. Jones will get the nod as the Giants take on the New England Patriots for their final event of the preseason.

This does not come as a surprise since head coach Pat Shurmur has been consistent that Eli Manning is their starting quarterback. Them deciding to rest Manning for the final preseason game is consistent with that sentiment.

They do plan to play the 6th overall pick of the 2019 NFL draft. They just want to do so when he is ready. Jones has looked fantastic during the preseason and even looked better than the Giants organization anticipated.

“Eli’s our starter, and we’re getting Daniel ready to play,” Shurmur said Friday. “(Jones) has done a good job in the preseason. He’s getting better and he’s going to do continue to do that, so that at whatever time we need him to play, he’ll be ready.”

We will see how much Eli Manning has left in the tank. He has shown that he wants to play after being a lead blocker during a preseason game at 38 years old. The 2-time Super Bowl Champion still might have something to prove.

When was the last time anyone saw Eli Manning run that fast?
