Dak Prescott is likely to become the highest paid player in Dallas Cowboys franchise history once he signs his contract extension that is underway.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that negotiations have been progressing with the quarterback entering his 4th season. The contract is estimated to be worth around $30 million a year.
Is Jerry Jones sold on Dak Prescott?
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made it clear he intends to build around Dak Prescott. Jones was on the Rich Eisen Show yesterday and told listeners he was confident that a deal would get done and they are completely sold on Dak Prescott as their franchise quarterback.
The Cowboys gave Prescott’s agent Todd France an official offer yesterday. They are awaiting an expected counter offer today.
What about Amari Cooper?
The Dallas Cowboys are also trying to retain the services of their top weapon for Dak Prescott in Amari Cooper.
Those negotiations are also underway and it has been reported that the Cowboys are much closer to a deal with Prescott than with Cooper. Dak Prescott’s NFL career
Since entering the NFL in 2016, Dak Prescott has thrown for 10,876 yards, 67 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions. Since 2016 only two NFL quarterbacks have thrown for more touchdown and fewer touchdowns. Those two quarterback are Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. That is good company to be in. The Cowboys feel they have something special with Prescott and are going to pay him based on that. Expect a deal to be completed very soon.
