The Welsh soccer star retired after the World Cup, but the owners of Wrexham AFC, Hollywood-stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are trying to convince him to play for another season in their team… with a few interesting tweets.
Wrexham AFC is in the middle of the celebrations of their League Two promotion… but they seem to be ready to shock the world again. In March, they signed Ben Foster as their goalkeeper for the rest of the season, putting the squad back in the spotlight. But they are now seeking for a bigger signing: Gareth Bale.
Rob McElhenney cheeky offer for Gareth Bale
It all started with a video message from Gareth Bale. Following Wrexham’s promotion, the Welsh player praised the efforts of both McElhenney and Reynolds up front… And McElhenney sensed a window of opportunity.
Rob McElhenney, the co-owner of Wrexham AFC, offered Bale to play golf via Twitter… but it was only an excuse to poach him to play for the team. And he made no attempt to conceal it.
Hey @GarethBale11 let’s play golf, where I totally won’t spend 4 hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season 🏴 🏴 🏴 🏴 ❤️ pic.twitter.com/FZgXZbM4zx

This led to an answer from both Gareth Bale and the other co-owner of the team, Ryan Reynolds. The football player seemed receptive, saying that “depends what course”, and Ryan Reynolds just… messed around.
I will shave a professional-grade golf course into Rob’s back if you’ll give Wrexham a season. :golf:️

A Welsh player in a Welsh team
It’s important to remember that, even though Wrexham is playing in the English football ladder, they are one of the few teams from Wales playing in England. They shared this status with fellow Welsh teams like Cardiff City, Merthyr Town, Newport County and Swansea.
So, for a team with a huge fandom in Wales (and nowadays, outside of the country as well), it could be a huge success to bring one of the best players the nation has seen. Gareth Bale has only played for the national soccer team, so this could be a new chance for the former star to show his devotion for his country. Will McElhenney and Reynolds be able to succeed? Is this just a golf match between McElhenney and Bale? Time will tell, but we can already see Bale facing Doncaster at The Racecourse Ground.
