Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian forward Neymar Jr. will be out of action for six weeks due to an ankle injury sustained in a French Cup game against Caen.
The 29-year-old was stolen away from the pitch on a cot after contorting his lower leg in the top half of the game.
PSG issued a statement on their website confirming that Neymar had suffered a sprain to his left ankle and an associated injury to the fifth metatarsal. The report also confirmed that he will not require surgery but will be out for an estimated six weeks.
Neymar’s physical issue is a significant disaster for PSG as they are currently contending in the Bosses Association and Ligue 1. The Brazilian forward has been instrumental to PSG’s prosperity this season, scoring 13 objectives and giving six aids in 21 association appearances.
