Why Auburn wins

Last year, Auburn lost in total yards, first downs, and time of possession, but won the turnover battle. They shouldn’t expect to win the same way, but the Tigers just need to keep things close. We saw what happened when they did that against Oregon in Week 1. Their quarterback plays a huge role.

Bo Nix showed magic in the first game, but he’ll need more than that to beat Texas A&M on the road. That requires him to be involved early in the game. Gus Malzahn can give him quick throws early to build his confidence, which hopefully leads Nix to being a factor late in the game. On the other side of the ball, they must force turnovers. The Aggies committed three turnovers to the Tigers zero last year, and it was the difference in the game.

Why Texas A&M wins

Texas A&M’s loss to Clemson showed they’re capable of competing with great teams, and they get a chance to put a Top 10 win on their resume. Jimbo Fisher was hired to win big games, and he must prove they are a threat to Alabama in the SEC West. That pressure should fuel the Aggies in this game. Their goals are simple.

First, they must utilize the 12th man. With a stadium that big, the Aggies have a weapon that not many other schools do. Crowd noise can help rattle Bo Nix and give the Texas A&M defense an edge. Get the crowd hyped and the players will play with even more energy. They should have more juice, but they can’t sacrifice their ball security. Last year’s game proved the importance of taking care of the football. If they can hang on to the ball this year, they’ll finish better in this game and win.

The Texas A&M Aggies loss to Clemson showed that they’re close to the elite, but need to take another step. This game against Auburn is a perfect test for them. Kellen Mond gets another shot at a tough defense, and taking care of the ball leads the Aggies to a win. TEXAS A&M 30 AUBURN 24
