Nebraska’s hyped season has begun, but we still need more evidence to determine if they’re legit. Scott Frost and his Nebraska Cornhuskers entered 2019 as a sleeper team turned playoff potential team in a matter of months. Ending the 2018 season 4-2 and Adrian Martinez’s play produced that excitement. It still warranted the question: are the Nebraska Cornhuskers legit? They get their first opportunity to prove they’re an elite team.

Why Nebraska wins
Many are picking the Cornhuskers based on hype alone. Nebraska’s the favorite, and they have the quarterback to lead them. Adrian Martinez got off to a slow start last week, but he showed Colorado why he’s dangerous last year. The sophomore finished with 117 yards and two touchdowns last year against the Buffs without much response. He also gets JD Spielman back, and the two give Colorado a ton to think about on Saturday. Nebraska wins this game if Martinez goes off, and Spielman plays a big role as well. They have too much firepower if Martinez is on a role.
Why Colorado wins
They won the game last year, and Nebraska had some hype going into that game too. Colorado’s key to the game is embrace the underdog role, and they have the guys to pull off the upset. Even if they think they’re the better team, all of the pressure is on Nebraska. They just need their two guys to ball out.
Steven Montez and Laviska Shenault Jr. are the two most well known players on Colorado’s roster for a reason. You can bet Nebraska remembers what they did last year. Montez had 351 yards passing and three touchdowns while Shenault caught 10 passes for 177 yards and scored the go ahead touchdown. If Colorado wins this game, it’s because they do more damage to the Cornhuskers defense.
People are overlooking Colorado just because the Huskers are the popular team. They quickly forget that the Buffs won last year’s contest and return two key guys in Montez and Shenault. Colorado’s also the home team, and I expect that to fuel them as well. COLORADO 38 NEBRASKA 31
