If you like LSU Tigers football, you’ll find out how good your team is over the next month. The same can be said about the Florida Gators over the next three weeks. Both teams are ranked and face a number of ranked teams within the next few weeks. Their most important matchup comes against each other. Both have been pleasant surprises in the SEC, but took different paths to get there. LSU’s offense thrives because of their quarterbacks development, while the Gators overcame adversity at the same position.

LSU Tigers keys to the game

  • Keep it simple
  • Force Trask to win the game
  • Get the crowed into it

Why Florida wins

All the Gators needed last week was a handful of explosive plays to hold off the Auburn Tigers. They’ll need more than that to beat LSU. Kyle Trask continues his solid play at quarterback, but he must elevate his game. LSU can put up points in a hurry, and their defense is loaded with talent. More explosive plays from the Gators, who have the talent to make them, will put them in good position. On the other side, Florida must be mentally sound. Hitting Joe Burrow won’t be enough. Burrow’s the toughest quarterback in the country, so hits won’t throw him off his game. The Gators can still create turnovers, which gives their offense good field position to put up points.

Why LSU wins

There hasn’t been a bigger surprise this year than Joe Burrow and the LSU offense. We knew he was a solid quarterback, but this offensive production wasn’t foreseen. In five games, Burrow’s thrown 22 touchdowns. A team that’s known for defense suddenly has an offense, and their goals become simple against the Gators. Whatever they’ve been doing, continue doing it. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel offensively, and the Tigers just need to make adjustments based on how Florida reacts. Defensively, their task is simple. LSU must make Kyle Trask beat them. Force him into bad throws, play man coverage and send a lot of pressure. Florida’s receivers are great, but LSU has the defensive backs to cover them. Putting up points and forcing turnovers early gets Death Valley involved, and that crowd becomes a factor when they’re loud.

LSU’s winning games with offense this year, which is weird but fun to watch. Florida’s undefeated, but it feels like they’re just hanging on to that perfect record. The Gators defense has their hands full, but we shouldn’t anticipate a blowout. LSU should win this game, and it would be a surprise if they run away with the game. LSU 34 FLORIDA 24
