Super Bowl LIII was played between the New England Patriots (AFC) and the Los Angeles Rams (NFC). The game was surprisingly a defensive battle between two teams known for their high powered offenses. The New England Patriots had a low ranking defense during the 2018 NFL season. The Rams had a top defense during the NFL season. Despite that, the New England defense is what propelled them to another Super Bowl Championship, finishing on the right side of the scoreboard.

What Patriots coach Bill Belichick told reporters after game

“That’s a great team, and we knew it was going to be as hard a competition as we had all year, and it was.”

“Obviously, couldn’t do it without all of them, they’re the ones that deserve the credit. The players went out there and competed against a great football team.”

“They’ve worked extremely hard, we’ve had our ups and downs over the course of the year, but in the biggest moments, when we had to play our best football and compete the hardest, they did.”

What Rams coach Sean McVay told reporters after game

“Congratulations to the Patriots. They did a great job. You know, coach Belichick did an outstanding job. There really is no other way to put it – I’m pretty numb right now. But definitely, I got outcoached. I didn’t do enough for our football team. “
