Hello, and welcome to my NFL Week 17 Picks Against the Spread. This will be my first time doing these for ChampionInsiders.com, I will continue to write betting articles throughout the postseason, planning to release them weekly next year. All of these spreads will be coming from Bookmaker. Without farther ado, let’s get onto the picks this week.

New York Jets +13 @ New England

Sam Darnold has been playing fantastic lately, and New England has not been playing great. Yes, I understand it is never a great idea to bet against the Patriots, but this is a perfect position to do so. Sam Darnold has had the best QBR since week 14 in the NFL, and has recently started to connect with Robby Anderson who could be a very good receiver, although he hasn’t shown it through most of the year.

Josh Gordon obviously won’t be playing in this game, and it looks like Cordarrelle Patterson may be out with an injury as well. If Patterson is out that leaves Brady with Gronk and Edelman as his only reliable targets. I think the Jets lose, but make it close, losing 30-23, easily covering.

Philadelphia -6.5 @ Washington

Philadelphia needs a victory to have any shot at making the postseason, and the team looks rejuvenated since Nick Foles has taken over for the injured Carson Wentz. The Eagles have scored 30 or more points in both games with Nick under center, and I expect that trend to continue, especially with a potential playoff birth on the line. Foles has also been very impressive on the road, throwing 43 touchdowns in just 25 games. He is also impossible to stop on third down, going 65-80 since the start of last years playoffs (Ruben Frank, NBC). The Redskins have looked abysmal on offense since Josh Johnson has taken over for the Redskins, and they no longer have nothing to play for. I think that the Eagles win this one easily, 34-13.

Detroit @ Green Bay -7.5

Sure, this game means nothing in terms of playoff outcomes, but the Packers still have Aaron Rodgers, and the Lions have looked horrible all year. Last week the Lions gave up a hail mary touchdown to the Vikings in which the Lions defender just stood behind Kyle Rudolph and let him catch the football. This team has quit, and that is apparent. However, the Packers still looked like they had some fight left in them after being down by more than one score against the Jets before storming back to win the game in overtime. Jamaal Williams finally showed up and ran the football for 95 yards on fifteen carries, and he should be able to get the same productivity this week. I think Aaron Rodgers and the Packers defeat the Lions 35-13, against a Lions offense that has looked pathetic since the loses of Marvin Jones and Golden Tate.

So there you have it. My three best bets against the spread for the last week of the regular season. Thank you for reading, and catch me again next week for picks against the spread for wild card weekend.
