Time for week 7 of the NFL Power Rankings. Some teams are starting to establish themselves as playoff contenders and some are clearly tanking or not contenders at this point.

These power rankings are based on a variety of factors you will see listed below. There is no exact mathematically formula but there is a process based on the importance of criteria, so I am not just picking teams every week based on emotion.

There is obviously subjective input to power rankings so please try not to get too upset and let’s have some fun.

The following is the NFL Power Rankings criteria by importance

  • Wins & Losses
  • Strength of Schedule
  • How good the team currently is regardless of record
  • Health of team (Yes, they may have a good record but they might have lost their starting quarterback for example.
  • Chance at Superbowl (Top 16 must be in playoff race)
  • Recent franchise history of success

1. New England Patriots

Record: 6-0

The Patriots have had the weakest schedule ever, but here they sit undefeated and they are the reigning Super Bowl Champs.

2. New Orleans Saints

Record: 5-1

The Saints have not missed a beat with Teddy Bridgewater taking over for Drew Brees. They are still a Super Bowl contender with him.

3. San Francisco 49ers

Record: 5-0

The 49ers are still undefeated after playing their toughest opponent of the season so far. Is this team for real?

4. Green Bay Packers

Record: 5-1

The refs helped the Packers seal a win over the Lions Monday night.

5. Seattle Seahawks

Record: 5-1

The Seahawks have not been impressive but they are getting it done.

6. Kansas City Chiefs

Record: 4-2

Kansas City is struggling a bit but they are still a good team.

7. Minnesota Vikings

Record: 4-2

The Minnesota Vikings are on their first winning streak of the season. They will attempt to extend that streak to three games.

8. Buffalo Bills

Record: 4-1

Buffalo is coming off bye week with only 1 loss.

9. Houston Texans

Record: 4-2

Houston is here! they beat the Chiefs and are now a top dog in the AFC.

10. Baltimore Ravens

Record: 4-2

The Ravens actually struggled to beat the Bengals.

11. Carolina Panthers

Record: 4-2

Since losing Cam Newton, the Carolina Panthers have gone 4-0.

12. Los Angeles Rams

Record: 3-3

The Rams are struggling but just got better after trading for Jalen Ramsey.

13. Oakland Raiders

Record: 3-2

This team is showing us that they are not a bad football team.

14. Indianapolis Colts

Record: 3-2

The Colts look to come back strong after bye week.

15. Chicago Bears

Record: 3-2

The bye week should have allowed the Bears to get back to full strength.

16. Philadelphia Eagles

Record: 3-3

The Eagles lost a tough matchup to the Minnesota Vikings.

17. Dallas Cowboys

Record: 3-3

After stating 3-0, the Cowboys have lost their last three games to the Saints, Packers, and now Jets.

18. Detroit Lions

Record: 2-2-1

The Lions should have beat the Packers Monday had it not been for the refs.

19. Denver Broncos

Record: 2-4

The Broncos are now on a two-game winning streak.

20. New York Giants

Record: 2-4

The Giants are back to struggling again now that the Daniel Jones magic has worn off a little bit.

21. Arizona Cardinals

Record: 2-3-1

Unfortunately for the Cardinals they are just good enough to not compete for a top 5 pick right now.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers

Record: 2-4

The Steelers are looking a little better than earlier in the season.

23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Record: 2-4

The Buccaneers are not a bad team. But they sit at 2-4 with wins over the Panthers and Rams.

24. Tennessee Titans

Record: 2-4

The Titans fell again with a tough loss to the Broncos.

25. Cleveland Browns

Record: 2-4

Baker Mayfield and the Browns are who I thought they were.

26. Jacksonville Jaguars

Record: 2-4

The Jags are back to racing for the first pick again.

27. Los Angeles Chargers

Record: 2-4

The Chargers could have got to .500. Now they sit at 2-4. Ouch.

28. New York Jets

Record: 1-4

Sam Darnold came back and got the Jets a monster first win over the Cowboys.

29. Atlanta Falcons

Record: 1-5

This team continues to look worse each week.

30. Washington Redskins

Record: 1-5

The Redskins won the toilet bowl vs the Dolphins.

31. Cincinnati Bengals

Record: 0-6

The Bengals are very much alive in the race for the number 1 draft pick.

32. Miami Dolphins

Record: 0-5

If there are free agents in your fantasy league that play the Dolphins, pick them up.
