Time for week 4 of the NFL Power Rankings. After this week, a quarter of the 2019 NFL season will officially be complete. The top three teams are separating themselves and we are starting to figure out the identity of some of these teams.

Though we are in the fourth week of the NFL Power Rankings, there’s still plenty of fluctuation. We won’t get stability for another month.

These power ranking are based on a variety of factors you will see listed below. There is no exact mathematically formula but there is a process based on the importance of criteria, so I am not just picking teams every week based on emotion.

There is obviously subjective input to power rankings so please try not to get too upset and let’s have some fun.

The following is the NFL Power Rankings criteria by importance

  • Wins & Losses
  • Strength of Schedule
  • How good the team currently is regardless of record
  • Health of team (Yes, they may have a good record but they might have lost their starting quarterback for example.
  • Chance at Superbowl (Top 16 must be in playoff race)
  • Franchise history of success

Previous NFL Power Rankings:

Home | Wk 1 | Wk 2 | Wk 3

1. New England Patriots

Record: 3-0

The Patriots rolled to their third win beating the Jets easily.

2. Kansas City Chiefs

Record: 3-0

They were tested a little bit but the Chiefs pulled out a tough win against the Baltimore Ravens.

3. Los Angeles Rams

Record: 3-0

Last game was a little closer than the Rams would have liked. They beat the 1 win Cleveland Browns to get their 3rd win of the season.

4. Dallas Cowboys

Record: 3-0

The Cowboys have had a very easy schedule but have taken care of business regardless. They look pretty good.

5. Green Bay Packers

Record: 3-0

The Pack is back. The Green Bay Packers defense has led them to win their first three games of the season. Yes, you read that correctly. Their defense.

6. Baltimore Ravens

Record: 2-1

They did not have enough to match the Kansas City Chiefs but still looked pretty solid. This team continues to grow.

7. New Orleans Saints

Record: 2-1

With Drew Brees out, Teddy Bridgewater led the Saints to a huge victory over the Seattle Seahawks. It’s Teddy time!

8. Minnesota Vikings

Record: 2-1

The Vikings got back on track with a blowout win over the Oakland Raiders. We will see who they really are this week against the Chicago Bears.

9. Seattle Seahawks

Record: 2-1

Russell Wilson and company made a late push but it was a little too late as they ended up losing to a Drew Brees less New Orleans Saints team.

10. San Francisco 49ers

Record: 3-0

The 49ers have not had a real test yet but they continue to win NFL ball games.

11. Chicago Bears

Record: 2-1

The Bears have won 2 straight since losing their season opener to the Green Bay Packers.

12. Buffalo Bills

Record: 3-0

The Bills were expected to be in rebuild mode. Here they sit undefeated. Will reality set in soon?

13. Houston Texans

Record: 2-1

Houston has played in 3 close games now, winning their latest over the Chargers by 7 points.

14. Indianapolis Colts

Record: 2-1

The Colts are sitting pretty nice despite no Andrew Luck.

15. Los Angeles Chargers

Record: 1-2

The Chargers are better than their record but need to get it together soon.

16. Detroit Lions

Record: 2-0-1

Detroit is undefeated. Even if that includes a tie with the Cardinals. Wins over the Eagles and Chargers though.

17. Philadelphia Eagles

Record: 1-2

The Eagles have lost their last two games and head to Green Bay this week. 1-3 is looking very likely.

18. Cleveland Browns

Record: 1-2

Cleveland actually looked pretty good against the #3 ranked Rams. I see them going 0-4 in their next four games against the Ravens, 49ers, Seahawks, and Patriots.

19. Oakland Raiders

Record: 1-2

The Raiders got rolled by the Vikings and didn’t look very good.

20. Atlanta Falcons

Record: 1-2

They lost a tough one last week. They play the Titans this week in an evenly matched game.

21. Tennessee Titans

Record: 1-2

Marcus Mariota is not looking like a franchise quarterback. As you can imagine, the titans season is looking worse each week.

22. Jacksonville Jaguars

Record: 1-2

Gardner Minshew brought the Jaguars their first win! Can the team rally behind the mustache?

23. New York Giants

Record: 1-2

The Daniel Jones era is off to an amazing start. The kid showed a lot of heart and promise.

24. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Record: 1-2

The Buccaneers lost a close game to the Giants despite a pretty good showing from Jameis Winston.

25. Carolina Panthers

Record: 1-2

Without Cam Newton, it is going to get ugly for the Panthers. They did win their first game without him against the Cardinals.

26. Pittsburgh Steelers

Record: 0-3

Oh how the mighty have fallen. The Steelers started the season in everyone’s top 10.

27. Denver Broncos

Record: 0-3

The Broncos have not looked good, but there is still a lot of time to turn it around.

28. Arizona Cardinals

Record: 0-2-1

The Cardinals may not be winning but they have looked better than I anticipated.

29. Cincinnati Bengals

Record: 0-3

Andy Dalton and the Bengals have been bad.

30. Washington Redskins

Record: 0-3

The Redskins have been struggling to get anything going. Jay Gruden is already on the hot seat.

31. New York Jets

Record: 0-3

The Jets continue to look lost as a team.

32. Miami Dolphins

Record: 0-3

If there are free agents in your fantasy league that play the Dolphins, pick them up. Just ask New England’s defense.
