The Carolina Panthers fired head coach Ron Rivera on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Rivera finishes with a 76-63-1 record as Panthers head coach. He led them to three NFC South titles, and brought Carolina to the Super Bowl (which they lost to the Denver Broncos) in 2015.

Ron Rivera and the Panthers dealt with the injury of their star quarterback all year, Cam Newton. Newton was injured early in the season, and finally shut down for the rest of the year. Kyle Allen took over for Newton, and actually played quite well, but the wins didn’t come frequently enough.
