Two days before the 2019 NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks are threatening to make some noise near the top.

The Hawks are shopping a pair of lottery picks — the eighth and 10th overall selections — in an effort to move into the top five of the draft, ESPN reported Tuesday.

According to ESPN’s report, which cited sources, the Hawks were rebuffed in their attempt to acquire the No. 3 pick from the New York Knicks.

The New Orleans Pelicans, however, were willing to engage in a conversation about parting with the No. 4 pick in a deal that would include both Atlanta lottery picks.

New Orleans will acquire the rights to the No. 4 pick from the Los Angeles Lakers in the reported trade involving Anthony Davis. That deal cannot become official until next month.

The Pelicans have the first overall pick on Thursday and plan to select Duke freshman forward Zion Williamson.

Atlanta is looking to add a prominent player to a young core that includes point guard Tre Young and forward John Collins. The Hawks acquired Young on draft night last June in a trade with the Mavericks involving Luka Doncic.

In that deal, Dallas sent its 2019 first-round pick — No. 10 overall — to the Hawks.
