The NBA season is flying by as we approach the holiday season. This is always a fun time to sit back and reflect how your team has fared so far. There are some good matchups to look forward to as well on Christmas day like the Los Angeles Lakers vs the Golden State Warriors.

The Lebron James lead Lakers are hanging around as a top 10 team, despite many NBA analyst counting them out this season. They are winning games and getting better as the season goes on. They were even predicted to not make the playoffs by some.

The Toronto Raptors have the best record in the NBA but have yet to gain the respect of the public. There is a surprise team on top of the Western Conference who didn’t make the NBA playoffs last season. You have to love the NBA!

Here are the top 10 teams in the NBA.

10. Portland Trail Blazers (18-13)

The Portland Trail Blazers currently sit in 5th place in the tight Western Conference. To make sense of you how close it is, they are only 4 games ahead of 14th place.

The Trail Blazers are trending as of late with big wins over the Clippers, Raptors, and Grizzlies led by point guard Damian Lillard.

9. Boston Celtics (18-12)

It was a rough start to the season for the Boston Celtics based on expectations this year. They have finally started to click and are playing to their full potential on offense.

They do have some injury concerns right now with Al Horford and Aron Baynes on the injury report.

8. Indiana Pacers (20-12)

The Indiana Pacers are 7-3 in their last 10 games. They have lost their last 2 games but are trending in the right direction for the most part. The surprise player of the year for the Pacers is Thaddeus  Young, who has been phenomenal all year.

7. Los Angeles Lakers (18-13)

Playing at home and in their division has been the Lakers strength this season. They are 11-4 at home and 3-0 in the division. If LeBron James can keep everyone focused on keeping those numbers the Lakers could be a top seed in the Western Conference come playoff time.

6. Philadelphia 76ers (21-12)

The Philadelphia 76ers are 6-4 in their last 10 games. They have been playing good ball and look tough since the addition of Jimmy Butler. They are not as good as their record as they have had some lucky wins against sub-par teams. Regardless they are a good team.

5. Oklahoma City Thunder (21-12)

Everything has improved for the Oklahoma City Thunder since letting Carmelo Anthony go. Paul George and Russell Westbrook are a dynamic duo that can play with anyone in the NBA. They are currently on a three game winning streak.

4. Milwaukee Bucks (21-9)

Giannis Antetokounmpo is here and he is for real. He is currently averaging 26.9 points and 12.9 rebounds a game. He has lead the Bucks to win seven of their last 10 games and three straight.

3. Golden State Warriors (21-11)

It’s funny that we talk about the Warriors having a down year and they currently sit at 21-11 in 3rd place in the Western Conference. They did play a long stretch without Steph Curry and look strong with him back in the lineup. DeMarcus Cousins will join the team soon and that should improve the strength of the Warriors even more.

2. Denver Nuggets (21-9)

The Denver Nuggets have been a pleasant surprise this season. After not making the playoffs last season they are in first place in the Western Conference. They have won eight of the last 10 games and are on a four game winning streak.

1. Toronto Raptors  (24-9)

Kawhi Leonard has kept the Raptors at a high level and is the reason people need to take them seriously. These are not the Raptors of the past who won a bunch of regular season games and flopped in the playoffs. They are a very good team who gets the job done on both sides of the ball.
